Physiotherapy

Expert physiotherapy across our 14 clinics, with no referral needed

Medically reviewed by James Walker, Service Development Director & Senior Physiotherapist, on 21/07/26.

Our physiotherapy department helps you move better and recover from pain and injury, from a straightforward muscle strain to complex neurological and respiratory conditions. We bring everyday musculoskeletal (MSK), post-operative, neurological, respiratory and sports physiotherapy together under one roof, alongside pain programmes and treatments such as shockwave therapy and acupuncture. You can be seen at any of our 14 clinics across South Yorkshire, North East Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, and you can book without a referral. Musculoskeletal problems are common: around one in six people in England live with a long-term MSK condition [1].

Our physiotherapy services

Whatever has brought you here, there is likely a physiotherapy service that fits. Our department spans general and specialist physiotherapy, structured pain programmes, and specific treatments and techniques, grouped below so you can find the right starting point.

Core physiotherapy

  • MSK physiotherapy - hands-on assessment and treatment for everyday aches, strains, sprains and longer-standing musculoskeletal problems, built around a personalised exercise plan.
  • Post-operative physiotherapy - structured rehabilitation after surgery to help you rebuild strength, movement and confidence as you recover.
  • Neurological physiotherapy - treatment for conditions affecting the brain, nerves and spinal cord, such as stroke and Parkinson's, focused on movement, balance and daily function.
  • Respiratory physiotherapy - techniques to help with breathing and clearing the chest for people living with long-term lung conditions.
  • Sports injuries - diagnosis and rehabilitation for sport and exercise injuries, with a plan to get you safely back to training and competition.

Pain programmes

  • Persistent pain - a supportive programme for pain that has lasted beyond the expected healing time, helping you understand it and rebuild your activity.
  • Mind-body approach to resolving pain - an approach that addresses how the body and nervous system contribute to persistent pain, alongside physical treatment.

Treatments and techniques

  • Shockwave therapy - a non-invasive treatment for stubborn tendon and heel pain that has not settled with rest and exercise.
  • Acupuncture - used alongside physiotherapy to help manage pain and support recovery for a range of musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Physiotherapy assessment with diagnostic ultrasound - a clearer picture of the affected tissue at the point of assessment, so your treatment plan is guided by what is actually going on.

Seeing you your way

  • Home visits - physiotherapy in your own home for people who find it difficult to travel to a clinic.
  • Remote physiotherapy - assessment and treatment by video or telephone, wherever you are, when an in-person visit is not practical.

Who is physiotherapy for?

Physiotherapy is for anyone dealing with pain, injury, stiffness or reduced movement, whether the problem is recent or long-standing. People come to us with everyday strains and sprains, sports injuries, arthritis and chronic pain, as well as more complex neurological and respiratory conditions, and after surgery. If you are not sure which service is right for you, our assessment is the place to start, and we will point you to the appropriate care.

Physiotherapy expertise under one roof

The strength of our physiotherapy department is breadth backed by specialist depth. All of our physiotherapists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), and many hold further qualifications in specialist areas such as diagnostic ultrasound, neurological rehabilitation and sports injuries. That range means a single assessment can open the door to the right treatment, from hands-on physiotherapy to shockwave, diagnostic ultrasound or a structured pain programme, with your care joined up across the team rather than split between providers.

How much does it cost?

Costs depend on the service and whether you need an assessment, a follow-up or a course of treatment. Current figures for each physiotherapy service are listed on our prices page, and our reception team can talk you through the options and explain access if you are using private medical insurance or paying privately.
