HYROX
Introduction to
HYROX
HYROX is a global fitness race that brings together endurance running and functional strength training. With no time restrictions or entry qualifications, HYROX welcomes athletes of all levels, from beginners to pros.
The race is quickly becoming one of the fastest-growing events in the UK, with over 12,000 participants taking part in HYROX London in May 2024. In South Yorkshire, North East Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, gyms offer all the equipment you need to train for the event, with some even offering bespoke classes and training plans.
Each HYROX race across the globe follows the same format: 8km of running interspersed with a functional workout station. Competitors complete movements such as sled pushes and pulls, rowing, burpee broad jumps, sandbag lunges and wall balls. It’s a challenge of both aerobic endurance and muscular power – a true test of all-round fitness.
Because HYROX combines running with high-intensity resistance work and repetitive movements, it is demanding on the body. If you neglect proper form or fail to follow a progressive plan, you increase your risk of injury. Correct preparation, technique, and recovery strategies can help keep you injury-free and improve your performance.
At the White House Clinic, our physiotherapists are experts in helping athletes prepare for multi-discipline events like HYROX. We can assess movement patterns, treat overuse injuries and enhance your performance with personalised rehabilitation and recovery programmes.
With 14 locations across South Yorkshire, North East Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, accessing expert physiotherapy has never been easier. Whether you’re taking part in your first HYROX or aiming for a personal best, we’ll help you stay strong, recover quickly and perform at your best.
