If your pain has lasted months or years and your scans have come back clear, this is an eight-week course you join as a small group, one morning a week at our on-site studio in Sheffield. It is led by a physiotherapist, it has a fixed start date of Monday 5 October 2026, and there are eight places. You book your place first and your assessment follows. The approach itself is explained in full on the Neuroplastic Persistent Pain Recovery Programme page.

What is the programme?

The Neuroplastic Persistent Pain Recovery Programme is an eight-week course for people living with persistent pain, run in a group of up to eight. Each week is a single 90-minute session led by a physiotherapist, combining teaching, practical skills, guided discussion and exercises to practise at home between sessions.

What the eight weeks cover, and the thinking the course is built on, is set out on the main programme page. This page is the practical side: when it runs, what a session involves, what it costs and how to book a place.

Who is it for?

It is for adults whose pain has persisted for three months or longer, or keeps coming back, and whose medical tests have not found a serious or structural cause. It suits people who would rather learn alongside others than work one to one, and who are ready to take an active part, because there is practice to do between the weeks.

It is not right for everyone, and whether it is right for you is decided at your assessment rather than from a page like this one. Every person who books is assessed by Irralee Andrzejowska before the course begins. If the programme is not the right fit, you are refunded in full and she will point you to what is.

What a session involves

Sessions run for 90 minutes with the same group each week, so you are not re-explaining yourself to a room of strangers. There is teaching, guided discussion and practical work you can carry into the week, and you are never asked to share more than you want to.

Between sessions there are exercises to practise. The course works through repetition, so what happens in the weeks between the sessions matters as much as the mornings themselves.

Your course leader

The programme is led by Irralee Andrzejowska, Senior Physiotherapist & Pain Management Specialist at the White House Clinic and a registered practitioner with SIRPA, the Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners Association.

She assesses everyone who books, leads all eight sessions herself, and is the person you deal with from the first conversation to the last week. Our physiotherapists are HCPC-registered and members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, and many hold additional qualifications in specialist areas.

When and where

  • Mondays, 10.15-11.45am, weekly for eight weeks
  • First session: Monday 5 October 2026. Last session: Monday 23 November 2026
  • Our on-site studio in Sheffield
  • Eight places in the group, which is the cap for the course

The group starts and finishes together, so the eight weeks are a fixed block rather than sessions you drop into.

Why the programme runs at a physiotherapy clinic

Because the person deciding whether it suits you is a physiotherapist, with the rest of our physiotherapy service behind her. If your assessment points somewhere other than this course, that conversation happens here rather than sending you back to the start somewhere else. Our one-to-one persistent pain service stays available if you would rather work individually, or alongside the course.

How to book, and what happens next

You book the programme directly. There is no separate assessment to book first.

  1. Book your place on the eight-week programme online, or call 0114 230 2030 and our reception team will book you in. The fee is paid upfront when you book.
  2. Irralee gets in touch to arrange your one-hour neuroplastic pain assessment. It is included in what you have paid, and it happens before the course starts.
  3. If the programme is not right for you, you get a full refund. The assessment decides that, not the booking.

You do not need a referral, and you do not need to have been treated at the White House Clinic before.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to book an assessment before I book the programme?

No. That has changed. You book the eight-week programme directly, and Irralee contacts you afterwards to arrange your assessment.

What happens if the programme turns out not to be right for me?

You get a full refund. The assessment exists to work out whether the approach suits you, and if it does not, you are not left paying for a course you are not going to take.

Is the assessment charged separately?

No. The one-hour neuroplastic pain assessment is included in the £180. Nothing else is charged on top.

Do I need a referral or a letter from my GP?

No. You can book without a referral.

What if the group is full?

There are only eight places on this group. If it has filled, call 0114 230 2030 and our team can tell you what else is available.

Can I do this alongside one-to-one appointments?

Yes. Some people use the course on its own and others work individually as well, through our persistent pain service. Your assessment is a sensible place to ask about it.

What it costs

£180 for the whole eight-week block, paid in full when you book. That single fee covers all eight 90-minute sessions and your one-hour neuroplastic pain assessment with Irralee, rather than being charged week by week or appointment by appointment.

It is a reduced rate for this first group.

Book your place

There are eight places, and the group starts on Monday 5 October 2026.

Book your place online or call 0114 230 2030 to speak to our team.

If you are not sure this is the right starting point for your pain, call the same number and we can talk you through the other ways we can help. This page is general information and not a substitute for individual assessment.
