Get active in Worksop

Whether you want to explore Worksop’s national parks, dip your toe in the world of hot yoga, sign up for a new gym, or discover the town’s local healthy food spots, we’ve got all you need to know about getting active in the area.

Outdoor activities

Worksop is home to Clumber Park, where you can explore 3,800 acres of beautiful parkland, heath, and woods. Hire a bike from their Cycle Hub, stroll along the lake with the dog in tow or explore the park’s majestic ‘Lime Tree Avenue’ – plenty to keep you busy! Fancy getting lost in nature? Spend the day exploring 171 hectares of Whitwell Wood. Worksop also has a golf club and skate park if you want to up the ante with your outdoor activities!

Sports facilities

There are plenty of sports facilities in this Nottinghamshire market town, from rugby or football at the town’s local clubs to something with less contact like tennis, cricket, or bowling. Find your weekly exercise fix by signing up and getting stuck in with the team. If you want a slightly different hobby, try hot yoga at Drop Yoga or martial arts at the Advantage Academy.

Healthy eats

Whether you want to enjoy a healthy lunch with friends or pick up a post-workout snack, the town is host to various healthy eats. ‘Munch’ is a local, nutritious fast food service that’s passionate about providing delicious, high-quality food – which helps make you feel good.

But if you’re looking to sit down and relax somewhere for a healthy meal, try The Olive Grove Bistro, which serves tasty food made with fresh and seasonal ingredients. They also offer an extensive vegan menu that’s perfect if you want to eat less meat.

Gyms

For a market town, Worksop has lots of gyms. Whether you want something more commercial like Anytime Fitness or a quirky local gym like Warehouse Gym and Kitchen, you won’t be short of choice. There’s also a CrossFit Worksop where you can show off your skills or dive straight into a Your Space gym which also has a swimming pool.

Where to watch sport

Get in on the action by watching Worksop’s local football team, The Tigers. Most Saturdays, you can catch a game at Worksop Town FC’s newly renovated grounds and pitch. Not a fan of footie? Check out a game of rugby or cricket instead at the town’s local clubs, perfect on a warm Summer’s day.

Equipment hire

If you are visiting this Nottinghamshire town – or just want a different kind of day out as a local – a great way to get around is by bike. Companies like Joe’s Bikes or the Cycle Hub at Clumber Park offer bike hire for set times or days, suitable for both adults and little ones. Hopping on two wheels is a great way to see the sights and enjoy some exercise with the family!

Festivals

Throughout the year Worksop and the surrounding areas host a variety of festivals and events for you to embrace the atmosphere and culture of the town, like the Worksop Music Festival, which celebrates and awards great local music every March.

However, the biggest of them is the unmissable Food and Drink Festival. A 15-minute drive out of town takes you to Thoresby Park, where they celebrate brilliant ideas in food and drink every September. Street food traders, celebrity chefs, live music, and a cookery school are just a few of the fantastic things the festival offers.
